Obituary of Monroe Thomas McDaniel

Monroe “Buddy” Thomas McDaniel was born on the 8th of December around 7:00 pm to Ada Belle Smith McDaniel and Robert Dewey McDaniel in Orange, Texas in 1936. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1953, then drove an ambulance for Joe Edwards of Edwards Funeral Home in 1956. Buddy then re-enlisted in 1957 and served another 20 years in the United States Air Force where he obtained his highest rank of Tech Sargent as well as serving in the Vietnam War for 2 tours. While enlisted in the Air Force, he worked on classified projects, served in the Air Forces elite Strategic Air Command and was the team leader of 6 men who developed what is now stealth technology.

Mr. McDaniel later met and married his wife, Georgia “Lou” McDaniel February 20, 1969 and they then toured parts of the world together through the military as well as adding 2 more children to their family. Mr. McDaniel retired from the military life only to enlist in lifetime service to the Lord and ministry. He began preaching in 1978 at Aline Independent Baptist Church and almost made 40 years in his service to the Lord before illness forced him to resign. Buddy went to be with the Lord December 22nd at 1:43 pm at Saint Elizabeth’s hospital due to complications from diabetes and kidney failure.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Robert McDaniel and mother Ada McDaniel,

Brothers Vernon and Homer McDaniel, sisters Hildred Russel, Pauline Lesser and Betty Joan McDaniel.

He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years Georgia McDaniel of Woodville, Texas, sons Thomas McDaniel of Vidor, Texas and Preston McDaniel of Woodville, Texas, daughters Janie McDaniel and husband Dwayne Miller of North Carolina and Melissa “Misty” Archer and husband Ronald Archer of Seabrook, Texas as well as 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a sister, Patricia Martin of Mauriceville, Texas as well as several nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters in Christ.

            A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at 10 am at the Egypt Cemetery in Colmesneil, Tx with Brother Edwin Findley officiating.
