Joyce, I still remember watching Shirley practicing her prose reading/interpretation of James Thurber's "The Catbird Seat" for UIL competition. She was SO animated and dramatic.... Whenever I listen to a book on tape, I always think, "Shirley Read would have been great at this!" Sorry she's gone so soon, but I'll never forget her since her memory pops up in my head every time I listen to a book on tape -- and then I think about you, too! Love, Nancy Nichols
