Obituary of Gerald L. Grimes

Gerald L. Grimes passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 after losing the battle of cancer. Gerald was born January 14, 1941 in Groveton, Texas to Roy L. Grimes and Eula Jane Kay Grimes. He attended various schools including Livingston and Chester. He was employed by W. T. Carter Mill in Camden, Tx before going to work in 1961 at the Air Control Window Factory of Woodville later becoming Keller Industries then Atrium, where he worked his way from entry level to staff supervisor. From 1973 to 1975, he was plant manager at their new factory in Berea, Kentucky before returning to Woodville where he remained until the window factory closed in the fall of 2002. He served the company for a total of 42 years. Gerald was ordained as a deacon by Pastor Buddy McDaniel of Aline Independent Baptist Church of Colmesneil in July 1992 where he served for a number of years. He was currently a member of Emanuel Baptist Church of Doucette where he also served as deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jeanette Allsbrooks; brothers, Everett Jones, Bobby Jones, Frankie Grimes and Charlie Grimes. In 1961, Gerald married his sole mate, Patsy Nugent Grimes. Together they had two children, Gregory Lee Grimes of Tyler and Cindy Grimes Ambrose Perez of Tyler, Tx. He has one granddaughter, Lori Ambrose of Winona, Tx; two grandsons, Jason Ambrose serving in the Navy in Norfolk, VA and his wife, Dominique and Dustin Ambrose, serving in the Air Force in New Port News, VA; twin sister, Geraldine Grimes King of Denver, CO; sisters, Peggy Allsbrooks of Reklaw, Tx, Juanita Simons Toler of Livingston and Lola Allsbrooks of Corrigan, Tx; sister-in-law, Reba Jones of Gallatin, Tx and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 7, 2014, at 11 am at the Riley Funeral Home in Woodville with Brother Steven McBride and Brother Larry Trest officiating. Burial will follow at the Emanuel Cemetery in Doucette. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2014, from 5 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.
