Obituary of Bruce Austin Griffith

Bruce Austin Griffith, 61, of Woodville passed away peacefully on September 3, 2019.

Born in Woodville, Texas to Garnet and De Lois Griffith, he lived in Woodville all of his life.  He graduated from Kirby High School in Woodville in 1976 and went to work shortly after that for Russell and Sons as a concrete finisher retiring after 37 years.  He loved his cows and his cats and sitting on the swing enjoying the country life.  Bruce was a man who loved life, to cut up and laugh with his family and friends, trips to Wal-Mart where he always found someone to talk to.  He was a “Big Ole Momma’s Boy” and loved his family unconditionally.     

Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Garnet Earl Griffith; grandparents, Clarence and Ruby Ling and Garnet and Lessie Griffith.

He is survived by his loving mother, De Lois Griffith; brother, William Earl Griffith and wife, Connie of Spurger; niece, Ashley Jones of Spurger; nephews, Brian Griffith of Spurger and Jason Griffith of Woodville; great nieces, Emma Jones, Abby Jones and Hazel Fielder; great nephew, Chase Jones and a host of other family members and friends.

Funeral service will be held Friday, September 6, 2019, at 11 am at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Lester Shird officiating.  Burial will follow at the Antioch Cemetery in Woodville.  Visitation will be held Friday from 9 am until the time of the service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Griffith, Jason Griffith, Robert Sheffield, Lester Shird, Chang Lin, James Davis, John Mertian, and Durwood Ling.  Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Raymond Sheffield.
