Obituary of Ernest Wayne Sims

Ernest Wayne Sims, 65, of Spurger passed away August 17, 2019.

Born in Kountze, Texas to the late Ernest and Patsy Hicks Sims, he lived in Spurger for many years.  Wayne loved to fish and spend time with his grandchildren and family who he loved with his whole heart.  He a passion for cooking and was well known for his homemade gravy and fried cornbread.  He will be truly missed by the ones he loved and who loved him.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Mark Sims and grandparents, James and Violet Hicks.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Lola Sims; son, Bradley Wayne Sims; daughter, Latisha Deann Sanders and husband, Bobby; grandchildren, Austin, Payton, Robert and Haven Sims, Asher Sanders and Trenton Venabale; brothers, Larry Sims and Bill Bundrant, Jr.; sister, Janet Sims; and a host of other family members and friends.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 22, 2019, at 2 pm at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Robert McCleland and Brother Gene Maddox officiating.  Burial will follow at the Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger, Tx.  Visitation will be held Thursday from 12 noon until 2 pm at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Granger, John Ramer, Jason Mannino, Bengy Shepherd, Chris Gallo and B. J Monchrief.  Honorary pallbearers will be Austin, Payton, Asher and Trenton.
