Obituary of James Eldrege Barnhart

James “Jim” Eldrege Barnhart, 73, of Woodville passed away Tuesday June 4, 2019. He was born October 12, 1945 in Tyler, Texas to the late Eldrege Newton Barnhart and Louise Culbreth Barnhart. Jim retired as Woodville Post Master after many years of service.  He was an avid golfer, U. S. Navy Veteran and a member of the Woodville United Pentecostal Church.  Being called PawPaw and spoiling and spending time with his grandchildren was one the greatest joys of his life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rita Barnhart of Woodville; daughters, Mystique Sifford  of Center, Kasey Barnhart Wahl and husband Erich of Conroe; sons, James Trenton Smith and wife Christina of Brookland, Texas, Shad Lane Smith and wife Dionna of Silsbee, Charles Christopher Barnhart and wife Joy of Fort Worth, Richard Brian Barnhart and wife Lauren of Woodville; brother, Carl Barnhart and wife Vickie of Alexandria, Louisiana; Uncle, Charles Ray Culbreth of Sulphur Springs; twenty-seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Eldrege Newton Barnhart and Louise Culbreth Barnhart.

Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Christopher Barnhart, Richard Brian Barnhart, Carl Barnhart, Shad Lane Smith, James Trenton Smith, and Camden Barnhart.

Funeral services will be Saturday June 8, 2019 at 11AM at the Woodville United Pentecostal Church. Visitation will be held Friday June 7, 2019 from 5-8PM also at the church. Burial will be held at Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville.
