Obituary of James C. Morris
James C. (J.C.) Morris, 89, of Spurger passed away May 24, 2019.
Born November 18, 1929 in Hemphill, Tx, he lived in Spurger for many years. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church Spurger and the Golden Circle Sunday School Class that he loved very much. J. C. served on the Turner Branch Cemetery board for many years where he had a passion and took great pride in serving the families. This was evident in any service to his community that he was involved with.
J. C. always looked forward to gardening time so that he could share his crops with everyone. He loved not only his family dearly but the whole community where he lived. He always had a smile on his face that could light up a room and make everyone feel welcome. His kindness, willingness to help and his special friends will always be remembered.
J. C. was preceded in death by his parents, J. R. and Charlie Morris and a daughter, Paula Anders.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Dorothy McClain Morris; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Tommy Smith of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Wendy Henry and husband, Wade of Beaumont, Chris Anders of Beaumont, Jason Smith and wife, Brenda Smith of Sour Lake, Brandon Smith and wife, Tonya of Sour Lake and Cody Smith of Sour Lake; great grandchildren, Connor and Mackenzy Henry, Morgan Allen, Hallie Anders, Mason and Madelyn Smith, Carter and Kenli Smith, Summer and Laiton Smith; and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at 10 am at the First Baptist Church in Spurger with Brother Paul Boughan and Brother Cole Clark officiating. Burial will follow at the Turner Branch Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, May 27, 2019, from 5 pm until 7 pm at the First Baptist Church in Spurger.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Anders, Eddie Anders, Jason Smith, Mason Smith, Brandon Smith, Carter Smith, Cody Smith and Connor Henry. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Laiton Smith.
