Obituary of William Forrest Pate
William Forrest “Billy” Pate, 91, of Warren passed away Friday May 10, 2019. He was born September 23, 1927 in Woodville, Texas to the late Marguerite and Forrest Pate.
Billy worked and retired after 39 years from Shell Oil as an Oil Exploration Vessel Mate. He was also a WWII Veteran in the United States Navy. Billy loved to spend time outdoors and enjoyed riding cutting horses. He enjoyed spending time with children. He was often seen riding horses with his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and neighbors’ kids.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jeannette Pate of Warren; son, John Pate and wife Johanna of Ft. Worth; daughter, Jaye Pate Meurer and husband Thomas of West; grandsons, Jeremiah Pate and wife Marianne of Warren, Joshua Pate of College Station, Dylan Meurer of West, Garrett Meurer of West, Colton Meurer of West; great-grandchildren, Rosemary, William, and Henry Pate, Meadow and Brooklyn Pate; and numerous other family members and friends.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Richard Pate; and a sister, Dorothy Pate Wingate.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremiah Pate, Joshua Pate, Dylan Meurer, Garrett Meurer, Colton Meurer, and Rob Swanson.
Visitation will be at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel Sunday, May 12, 2019 from 5-7 PM. A Funeral service will be held Monday, May 13, 2019 at 2PM at the United Methodist Church in Warren. Burial will follow at Beech Creek Cemetery in Spurger.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Methodist Children’s Home in Waco, Texas.
