Obituary of Ruth Fletcher
RUTH FLETCHER, 88, OF WILDWOOD WAS BORN MARCH 26, 1930 IN GLADEWATER AND PASSED AWAY JANUARY 18, 2019 IN TOMBALL, TEXAS. SHE ATTENDED SCHOOL THROUGH THE EIGHT GRADE IN GREGTON, TEXAS AND VALLEY MILLS, TEXAS AND ATTENDED TEXAS A&I UNIVERSITY, KINGSVILLE, TEXAS WHERE SHE EARNED A BACHELOR OF ARTS WITH HONORS AND A MASTER OF ARTS. SHE BEGAN WORK IN 1946 AS A SOUTH WESTERN BELL-OPERATOR, OWNED A CHILDREN'S DRESS SHOP, WORKED AT A NAVAL BASE IN STATISTICS AND TEXAS A & I UNIVERSITY WHERE SHE RETIRED AS REGISTRAR AND DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS. SHE WAS ACTIVE MEMBER OF FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH KINGSVILLE AND WILDWOOD BAPTIST IN VILLAGE MILLS WHERE SHE TAUGHT SUNDAY SCHOOL. SHE AND EARL WHERE MARRIED NOVEMBER 30 1946.
SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER HUSBAND OF 72 YEARS EARL FLETCHER OF WILDWOOD; CHILDREN,EARL WAYNE FLETCHER, JR. OF ROUNDROCK AND RUTH WATKINS OF TOMBALL, TWO SISTERS, MARY BREWTON OF BEAUMONT AND BETH HURBROUGH OF PALESTINE, BROTHER, JOE DALE CAGLE OF PALESTINE, SIX GRANDCHILDREN AND SIX GREAT GRANDCHILDREN.
SERVICES WILL SATURDAY JANUARY 26, 2019 AT 11 A.M. AT WILDWOOD BAPTIST WITH VISITATION STARTING AT 10 A.M. AT THE CHURCH WITH BROTHER DON MITCHELL OFFICIATING.. BURIAL WILL FOLLOW AT VILLAGE MILLS CEMETERY.
IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, DONATIONS MAY BE MADE TO THE WILDWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH’S PIANO FUND.
