Mary Lou was born July 13, 1938 to M.C. Chapman and Eva Swearingen and was raised in Spurger.
Mary Lou was a "true to the heart" Spurger native, she excelled in academics and sports, and many believed that if born during this modern age, she would have a been a highly sought recruit in Basketball for many colleges. Mary Lou loved the outdoors and spending time with her father tending to the crops and livestock they had. Mary Lou met Jack in her senior year, and they married on June 1st shortly after graduation and were devoted partners and parents for the rest of their lives.
Mary Lou and Jack had 3 children; Charlotte, Mary, and Daniel. As the children became old enough for school, Mary Lou pursued a passion in Business and Bookkeeping; starting with Gulf States Utilities and then embarked on a progressive journey upward in the field with several businesses till she found her passion as an Administration Auditor for HEA Inc. as a regional nursing home auditor throughout the state of Texas. In retirement, Mary Lou was on the Board of Directors at Tyler County Hospital, a dedicated election judge for Tyler County and a faithful Methodist. One of her most proud moments was in 1954 when her mother and father, Chapman and Eva, were recognized as being the Methodist Family of the Year. She was a lifelong member of Spurger Methodist Church and visited the Curtis Methodist Church often as well. Mary Lou had a passion for working with young adults, and taught Sunday School to many and offered her heart to all...she will be missed.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her loving husband Jack, her daughter Charlotte, parents Chapman and Eva Swearingen, brother Robert Swearingen and many dear friends and relatives.
