Obituary of Jeneta Faye Griffith

Jeneta Faye Caraway Griffith was born September 16th, 1942 near Fred, Texas, the seventh child of David Archie Caraway and Josie Lillian Hopkins Caraway.

She spent most of her childhood years in Hardin County and was a graduate of Kountze High School in May of 1960. She loved to learn from a young age, was an avid reader and talented writer, and would later make a career in public education.

Soon after graduating high school, she met her lifelong love Jack Griffith and they married in October of that year. They made their home in Spurger, Texas, where they lovingly raised their family and faithfully served their church. They were married for over 54 years until Jack’s death in August of 2015.

Jeneta was proud of her 15-year career with Spurger ISD. She worked as a kindergarten teacher, librarian, and later retired as an administrative assistant to the superintendent of the school.

She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church since 1967, serving faithfully until her health declined in recent years. She loved her family and friends dearly, but first and foremost, she loved her Lord. She served as a Sunday School teacher, church treasurer, and in many other roles during her time there. However, leading a weekly ladies’ bible study for the women in her church was her heart’s delight. As many can attest, Jeneta was a prayer warrior. She committed herself to praying for the needs of others. She prayed fervently for her family, seeing to it that her husband, children and grandchildren knew the Lord.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a son, Daniel Brian Griffith, a granddaughter, Britney Kay Sturrock, her husband, Jack Griffith, four brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Stephens and son-in-law Ronnie of Woodville, her son, Randy Griffith and daughter-in-law Tracy of Woodville; grandchildren Alyson Rainey, Amanda Griffith and Marco Vaccarella, Cidney Sturrock, Seth Griffith and Jackson Griffith; great grandchildren Macie Williams and Sophia Vaccarella, and numerous other family members and friends.

Her family would like to express our love and gratitude to Affinity Hospice for their excellent care of our mother and grandmother. Nicole, Joy, Beverly, Mona & Mollie, we are eternally grateful to you all for walking this journey with us. We would also like to thank Nancy Lewing for going above and beyond for our family in recent weeks. And to her beloved church family, thank you for all the prayers, visits and support during this time.
