Obituary of William James Beattie

William James (Jim) Beattie, PHD, age 71 of Ivanhoe, Texas passed away August 8, 2018.

 

Born August 16, 1946 in Belfast, Northern Ireland to the late Walter and Lucinda Beattie, he was a Tyler County resident for over 20 years.  Jim retired from the    U. S. Army as an Intelligence Officer and Vietnam Veteran.  He was a law enforcement officer in Ohio, an Internal Affairs Investigator for TDC in Huntsville, Tx.  He was instrumental in establishing the Veterans Museum in Huntsville.  He was one of the founders of the Woodville Amateur Radio Club and member of ARES.  He currently held a seat on DETGOC’s Criminal Justice Committee due to his PHD in Criminal Justice and a lifetime Mason.  Jim was the current president of the Ivanhoe Men’s Club.

 

He left behind a loving family including his soul mate, Claudia Provance-Beattie, sister, Linda Yoo (David), niece Heather Herbert (Michael) and a nephew, Brian Kucharik (Nicole).

 

Jim will be laid to rest in the family plot in Independence, Ohio at a later date.

 

Cremation services were held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
