Obituary of Thomas John Carter
Thomas John Carter, 97, of Woodville passed away on July 11, 2018.
He was born October 8, 1920 in Moonshine Hill, Texas to the late S.A. Carter and Lillian Jenkins Carter.
He is preceded in death by his parents and loving wife Ruth McAlister Carter.
Thomas is survived by his daughters, Sandra Hulon and husband Buddy of Willis, Bonnie Lawson and husband Randy of Groves, Tina Richards and husband James of Woodville; sister, Polly Klostermann and husband Pat of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gay Carl and husband Robert of Woodville; granddaughters Kim Davis of Port Neches, Kristal McKay and husband James of Vidor, Amy Leggett and husband Coby of Livingston; grandsons, Raymond Kattner of Willis, Will Fincher and wife Tammy of Montgomery, Jason Bendy and wife Hollie of Colmesneil; step-granddaughters Karen Underwood and Audrey Webb of Austin; step-grandsons, David Richards of Irving, Mike Richards and wife Ann of Bath, Pennsylvania; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of loving family members and friends.
Thomas served in the Civillian Conservation Corps Woodville branch and was a WWII Navy Veteran. He retired from Texaco refinery Port Arthur after over thirty-five years. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church, Groves and First Baptist Church, Woodville.
A visitation of family and friends will be held Sunday July 15, 2018 from 2-3pm at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel, with a private graveside to follow.
Servings as pallbearers will be Raymond Kattner, Will Fincher, Jason Bendy, Nick Fincher, James McKay, and Coby Leggett.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the mission fund at First Baptist Church, Woodville.
Services are held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
