Obituary of Shirley Ruth Evans

Shirley Ruth Evans, 79, of Hillister, TX, passed away at home on Sunday, March 18, 2018. She is preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, David Waymon Evans, and her parents, Jessie and Devia McGaughey Sullivan, sisters, Ethel Shivers and Lois Reppond and brothers, Glenn Sullivan and Bill Sullivan.

  She is survived by her son, Donnie Evans and wife, Carrie,  of Silsbee, her daughter, Linda Patrick and husband, Roy, of Kennard, and daughter, Sherry Williams and husband, Paul, of Spurger, TX. She leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, and a host of close friends that she cherished.

  "Nanny", as she was known to her beloved family, loved HGTV, decorating her home, and she was a great cook! From her homemade pineapple pies to homemade biscuits and gravy, her food was lovingly made and could not be beat! Watching her form those biscuits with her beautiful hands was like watching art in action.

  Nanny also loved her little church family at Beech Creek Baptist Church, where she attended services for over 50 years. Her smile would light up the room and she'll be sorely missed by her family and friends.

  Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at 10 am at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Beech Creek Cemetery in Spurger.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 5 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.

  Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Williams, Joseph Evans, Thomas Patrick, Matthew Sirmons, Samuel Sirmons, Jon Richardson, Gage Winkle and Elijah Williams.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bryce Gore, Lane Winkle, Ethan Young, Keanon Slayton, Josiah Simpson, Tucker Cravey and Connor Durant.
