Obituary of Jerry Clinton Powell
Jerry Clinton Powell, 79, of Houston, died March 11, 2018, under the care of The Concierge and Houston Hospice.
Jerry was born November 1,1938, in Camden, TX, to Jesse and Lorine (Jordan) Powell.
He attended Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, TX. He continued his education at The University of Houston in Electrical Engineering.
Jerry was the owner and president of Powell Control for over 35 years. Powell Control was a supplier of electrical switchgear and motor controllers to the energy industry. He was a member of the Institute of Electrical Engineering.
Jerry enjoyed sailing. He sailed his boats through Galveston Bay, Matagorda Bay and Corpus Christi Bay many times. He also liked cars, especially fast ones. In addition to owning many cars of his own, he went to the Indy 500 and saw what really fast cars were all about. Jerry also liked spending time with his family and many, many friends. He was the most generous and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Paulette Powell of 23 years and his only child, Susie Herrmann and husband, Steve, of Dallas. Also surviving Jerry are his grandsons Preston Herrmann of San Jose, CA and Blaine Herrmann of Seattle, WA; sister Gloria Markle of Temple and sister Sarah Boudreaux and husband Paul of Vidor. Jerry also had one niece, Cassie Watson and one nephew, Paul Boudreaux III.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 15, 2018, at 10:30 am Beech Creek Cemetery.
