Obituary of Barbara E. Lewis

Barbara Estelle Prothero Lewis, age 79, of Woodville, Texas, and thirty-year resident of Santa Fe, Texas, passed from this life on Monday, January 15, 2018.

Born December 3, 1938 in Galveston, Texas, she was proud to be “BOI” – “Born on the Island”. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years,  Rev. Billy Jack Lewis, her mother, Lillie Anna Prothero, and her brother, William Toler.

She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Lewis of Beaumont, Texas, and Elizabeth Lewis Sanders and her husband, Rick, of Lumberton, Texas, two grandchildren, Laura Sanders McCoy and husband Tyson McCoy of Alvin, Texas, Nathan Sanders of Hazelwood, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara held an associate degree in Journalism from College of the Mainland.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Gospel Tabernacle, 1225 Glendale Ave, Beaumont, Texas, with visitation preceding the funeral at 10:00 a.m., also at Gospel Tabernacle. Interment will follow at Old Alta Loma Cemetery, Ave M, Santa Fe, Texas at 3:30 p.m.
