Obituary of Hilda Edith Findley
Edith Findley, 92, of Warren, TX, passed away on January 9, 2018. She was born to the late Eva and Robert Ferguson, on July 6, 1945 in Buna, TX. She was married the late Ernest F. Findley in 1948 and they lived together in Warren, TX. for 50+ years.
Edith graduated from Port Neches High School. She held degrees from the Bible Seminary in Waxachaxie Stephen F. Austin State University and Lamar University. She was a public school educator who taught in Orangefield, Woodville and Warren. Edith also worked for Region V Service Center as a Counselor for the Tyler County schools until she retired. Edith was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. After retiring from teaching she relocated to Marshall, TX where she was the Dean of Women at East TX Baptist University. She loved to travel, and took many cruises and motor home trips with her husband, family and friends.
Edith was devoted to God, her family and her friends. Edith was an active member of Warren First Baptist Church. She also belonged to Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Eastern Star, B&PW Club, Retired Teacher Assoc., and Women’s Study Club. She was the caretaker of many young people that she so graciously took into her home.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents Eva and Robert Ferguson, husband Ernest Floyd Findley and a brother, Roland Ferguson.
Edith is survived by her children: Ernestine Joye and husband, R.L. Mitchell of Chandler, TX; Edwin and wife, Joyce Findley of Woodville, TX; Ellen Gaye and husband, Greg Morris of Gilmer, TX and Susie Findley of Chandler, TX She also is survived by four grandsons, Trae Mitchell, Josh Findley, Eric Findley, and Ernest Mitchell, four great-grandchildren, Maddox, Angel, Madison and Walker. Edith is also survived by one brother, Buddy Ferguson.
A viewing will be held at 5 p.m. at Riley Funeral Home in Woodville, TX. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm at the First Baptist Church in Warren, TX. Burial will follow at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Woodville.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ken Cauthen, Mike Ferguson, Louis Ferguson, Johnnie Findley, Elton Hollingsworth and John Sutton, Sr.
