Obituary of Charles Ray Barnes, Sr.

~~Charles Ray Barnes, Sr., 89, of Chester passed away September 18, 2017.
Born May 12, 1928 in the Enon Community, Chester, Tx to the late John and Jessie Banks Barnes, he lived in Chester all of his life.  He was a self employed rancher.  He was a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church. 
He served on the Chester ISD School Board for several years and he was a member of “The Supreme Court” at Havis Feed Store.  Ray loved to be in the woods, on the lake, or at the river.  He has forgotten more about hunting, fishing, and working cows than anyone will ever know.  Ray loved hosting fish fries at The Camp and visiting with neighbors, friends and relatives.  He was famous in his overalls and various dented pick-up trucks riding the back roads of Chester.  He was a hard working and most resilient man. 
Survivors include is loving wife of 67 years, Marjorie Barnes; son, Charles Ray Barnes, Jr. and wife, Debbie of Chester; daughters, Betty Whitworth of Chester and  Kathy Lynn Standley and husband, Royce all of Chester; grandchildren, Stacy Michelle Read and husband, Wade of Chester, Casey Richard Whitworth and wife, Leighanne of Chester, Charles Ray Barnes, III, Rene O'Neal and husband, Matt of Chester, Johnathen Barnes and wife, Annie of Chester, Matthew Standely and wife, Carrie of Warren, Jessica Lindsey and husband, Josh of Alto, Jacob Standley and wife, Deanna of Chester, Megan Berry and husband, Cliff of Lufkin; and twenty-seven great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at 10 am at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Larry Trest officiating.  Burial will follow at the MT. Hope Cemetery in Chester.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017, from 5 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bob David, Josh David, Steve Watts, John Fuller, Hoyt Watts and James T. (Rusty) Hughes.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jim Landrum, Billy Bracken, Wilburn Neal, Preston Barnes, Jerry Grimes and Phillip Pate.
Services were held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
