Obituary of Fairy Doris Grissom

~~Fairy Doris Dryden Grissom, 96, of Spurger passed away peacefully unto the Lord on August 16, 2017.
Doris was born October 20, 1920 to parents John W Dryden and Laura Plake Dryden in Bancroft, Louisiana.  Her father, being in the logging industry, moved the family often, and landed in Spurger, Texas when she was fourteen.  She met and married Oliver Britton Grissom while residing here at Logging Camp 11 on September 5, 1936.  They acquired an enormous family over the years, including nine children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oliver Britton Grissom, Sr.; son, OB Grissom, Jr.; daughter, Lillian Grissom; grandsons, Marc Alan Grissom; and all of her brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Doris leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter-in-law Alice Grissom; daughter Doris Strain and husband Mike, son, Royce Grissom and wife Kathelene, daughter, Kathleen Dryden, daughter, Eva Jones and husband Ellis, son, Oscar Grissom and wife Linda, son, John Grissom, daughter, Gwen Cowart and husband Wes; 29 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017, at 10 am at the First Baptist Church of Spurger with Brother Cole Clark and Brother David Nugent officiating.  Burial will follow at Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger.  Visitation will be held Friday, August 18, 2017, from 5 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons.
