Obituary of Virginia Gaye Brown

Virginia Gaye Brown, 71, of Woodville went to her heavenly home on April 18, 2017 at 10:40 a.m. at the Tyler County Hospital. She was born September 14, 1945 in Luling, Texas to the late J. C. and Helen Carter. She was a long time resident of Tyler County and a faithful member of the Shady Grove Assembly of God Church for eight years were she played the piano. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all who she became acquainted with. Virginia is preceded in death by her father, J. C. Carter; mother, Helen Carter; grandmother, Gertrude Timms (Big Mama); mother-in-law, Lela Brown; father-in-law, Leroy Brown; sister-in-law, Patsy Dickens and her husband, Charles Dickens; brother-in-law, Charles Riley. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Larry Lee Brown of Woodville; sons, Larry Brent Brown and wife, Janet of Warren and Rodney Brown and wife, Denise of Woodville; sister, Helen Faye Riley of Woodville; brothers, Stanley Carter and wife, Penny of Corpus Christi and Joe Carter and wife, Retha of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Erica Christiansen and husband, Caleb of Cedar Falls, IA, Justin Brown and wife, Lydia of Vidor, Kaleb Brown and wife, Shaunna of Woodville and Emily and Lance Loftin of Chester; great grandchildren, Kiersten Christiansen, Jaxson Brown, Wyatt Brown, Kyler Christiansen, Charlotte Christiansen, Lyla Brown, Stetson Brown and expectant great grandson, Caleb Loftin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Funeral service will be held Friday, April 21, 2017, at 3 pm at the Shady Grove Assembly of God Church with Sister, Hazel Rumby and Brother Larry Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at the Shady Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 2 pm until the time of the service at the church. Psalm 91 “He that dwellth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadows of the Almighty.”
