Obituary of Odilia Deggs

Odilia “Dee” Clements Hardin Deggs was 87 years when she was called home to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ. She was born October 4, 1929 in Jennings, LA. She was the daughter of Agustin Clements and Evelina Sonnier. She passed into glory on January 9, 2017 in Woodville, TX. She was living at home in Hillister, Texas with her son, Kevin Deggs, his wife, Crystal, and their two sons, Timothy and Matthew. She is survived by her Children, Evelyn “Kay” Hardin Kirk, John William Hardin, Jr. and his wife, Robin, Terry Wayne Hardin and his wife, Donna, Jackie Lynn Deggs McGee, and Kevin Deggs and his wife, Crystal; six grandchildren: Pam Huffman, Shelly Kirk, James Robertson, Brett Hardin, David Wright, and Michael Hardin; seven great grandchildren: James “Boomer” Robertson II, Haley Robertson, Acacia Hardin, Nathaniel Hardin, Alexander Hardin, Timothy Deggs, and Matthew Deggs; her three brothers, John Clements, Norris Clements, and Derk “Doc” Harmsen and two sisters, Hazel Clements Wells and Williamina “Minnie” Harmsen Ortego. Her oldest surviving relative is a first cousin Liton Sonnier (98). Dee loved to laugh, loved her family, and especially little children who she would teach the gospel song “Jesus loves the little children”. Her other passions included church, eating, cooking, growing flowers, and fishing. Her favorite color purple/lavender Her memorial service will be held at Beech Creek Baptist Church, 437 CR 4540, Spurger, TX 77660 on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11 AM. A reception will follow the services honoring her Cajun heritage of Gumbo, Rice, Dirty Rice, Potato Salad, and Bottled Water will be provided by the family. Side dishes would be appreciated.
