Obituary of Vesta Belle Worthey
Vesta Belle Worthey was born July 9, 1922 in the small community of Mt. Carmel, TX. She was the sixth of eleven children born to Lewis and Arizona Davis. Vesta Belle always loved her family beyond measure; she had an infectious smile and laugh. At the age of nineteen, she met Jasper Worthey who would soon become her one and only husband. In the first couple of years, she was able to travel with him while he was in the Navy and she always talked of the wonderful times and the great friends she had met in Key West, Florida. In 1945 she went back home to Mt. Carmel and had her oldest son Danny and her middle son Larry. Eventually the family relocated in 1949 to Galveston County, TX where she had her youngest son Randy, and where she would spend the next 43 years being a wife, a mother, and the best Mamaw EVER. Vesta Belle eventually returned to Tyler County in 1993, where she lived until recently returning to Galveston County to live with Danny and Joann and to be closer once again to family. In the early morning hours of December 28, 2016 she was called home to be with the Lord and with the rest of her loved ones who have passed before her. What a glorious reunion this must have been!
Vesta Belle was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Zona Davis; husband Jasper Worthey; son Larry Worthey; brothers Clarence, Jay, Woodrow and Escar Wayne; and sisters Faye, Willie Mae, Beatrice, Margarete, Mary Lou, and Iva Lee.
