Obituary of John Henry Evans, III

John Henry “Pete” Evans, III, 82, of Colmesneil passed away peacefully on December 10, 2016. Born January 31, 1934 in Woodville, Texas to the late John Evans, Jr. and Helen Miller Evans, he was raised in Woodville by his grandparents. He graduated from Sam Houston University with a Master Degree in Agriculture and a Minor in Science. He taught in West Hardin CCISD for twenty-five years and in Woodville ISD for ten years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, hunting, researching genealogy and the Dallas Cowboys. Education was very important to Pete and he instilled this in his family. He is survived by his wife f 35 years, Judy Evans; children, Bobby Evans of Colmesneil, Patricia Evans Willis and husband, Terry of Silsbee, Gina Evans Mendez and husband, Juan of Fort Smith, Ark., Shana Evans Murphy and husband, Richard of Corinth, Tx, Michael Shaw and wife, Patricia of Tyler, Lisa Shaw Jackson and husband, Erick of Logo Vista, Rebecca Lee and husband, Jeremy of Warren; twenty-five grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at 1 pm at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Wade McKinney officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Colmesneil, Tx. Visitation will be held Monday, December 12, 2016, from 4 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Willis, Terrance Willis, Walker Evans, Tyler Murphy, Ian Murphy, Luke Murphy, and Joe Pitts. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Sam Murphy, David Juelfs, Dillan Juelf and Warner Tripplett.
