C. M. (Buddy) Barclay, 95, went to be with our Lord on November 7, 2016. Buddy was a native of Polk County and was born August 7, 1921 to William Thomas Barclay and Devilla Courtney Barclay. He grew up in Woodville and attended schools there. When he was a child, he was baptized in the First Baptist Church of Lufkin. He and his wife Ruth later joined Bethel Baptist Church near their home in Warren. Buddy served in the Merchant Marines and was a World War II Army Air Force veteran. The pioneer family of Barclays came to Texas in the early 1800s to make Tyler County their home. Buddy was an expert hunter and had been hunting since he was a young boy. His favorite place was in the woods of Tyler County. In his spare time, Buddy enjoyed playing dominoes with friends. He was mechanically talented and could build and repair anything under the sun. He even built his home in Warren.
