Obituary of Peggy Jean Phillips

Peggy Jean Phillips, 88, of Orange formerly of Woodville passed away October 29, 2016. Born April 25, 1928 in Polk County, Texas to Henry and Eva Childree Stringer, she lived in Woodville for many years before moving to Orange to be closer to her daughters. She served as secretary for Treasurer Austin Fuller and then served as Tyler County Treasurer from 1987 until 1994. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Woodville and Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 462. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, R. A. Phillips, brother, Sammy Stringer, and a sister, Mary Taylor Wilson. She is survived by her loving daughters, Gail Phillips of Beaumont and Marilee Williams of Orange; sister, Eva Lee Bell; grandchildren, Kendal Williams, Michael Williams and Stacie Munselle; great grandchildren, Kaden Williams, Chase Williams, Caroline Williams and Maghan Brewer; great, great grandchild, Levi Brewer; and a host of other family members and friends. Funeral service was held Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at 2 pm at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Rusty Dollar officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Woodville. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 12 noon until the time of the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Williams, Kendal Williams, Chris Brewer, Beau Bell, Jimmy Willson and Stevie Willson. Honorary pallbearers will be Chase Williams, Kaden Williams and Levi Brewer.
