Obituary of Barbara Anne Briggs

Barbara Anne Foxworth Briggs, loving mother and grandma, age 74, got to see the precious face of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 27, 2016. She passed away at Bayshore Medical Center in Pasadena, Texas. She was born on November 20, 1941 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston, Texas to Thomas Aubrey Foxworth, Sr. and Marjorie Louise Flynn Foxworth. Barbara married William Charles Briggs on October 9, 1978. They were married for 21 years until his death in 1999. She was his “bride” and he was her “sweetheart”. Barbara retired from Shell Oil Company as a supervisor in the correspondence center after 23 years of employment. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas for many years where she formed special friendships. More recently, she’d moved her church membership to Dogwood Hills Baptist Church in Woodville, Texas where she planned to continue serving her mighty Lord and Savior. Barbara will be especially remembered for her feisty, funny personality, her loving, nurturing and compassionate nature and her unwavering love for her family. Her standard everyday attire was always brightly colored and everything matched down to her socks; she loved fun clothes and jewelry and bling! She was an avid gardener who could literally make a piece of a dead twig turn into a beautiful tree, bush or flower. She loved to read the Bible, true stories, biographies and her ever-present “scandal” magazines she’d buy at the store checkout. She was fond of the elderly. Those who were close to her knew of her obsession with anything that had pink flamingos on it. She was forever picking up pretty/interesting looking little rocks she’d find on the ground. She also had an intense love of dogs! She was preceded in death by her husband William Charles Briggs, her parents, her brother Robert Lavalle Powers Foxworth and her great-niece Samantha Rose Tooke. She is survived by her daughter Lena Anne Moon Davis and husband Sean of Pasadena, TX, her son William Thomas Briggs and wife Yuka of Austin, TX, her very special granddaughter Monica Lio Briggs, her brother Thomas Aubrey Foxworth, Sr. and wife Judy of Magnolia, TX, her sister Rose Mary Tooke of Woodville, TX, her brother Wilmer Douglas Foxworth and wife Ann of Austin, TX, her brother Joseph Earl Foxworth and wife Judy of La Porte, TX, her brother Kenneth Allen Foxworth and wife Brenda of La Porte, TX as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She is also survived by her “babies” (as she called her dogs), Little Bit, Harley and Sophie and her “grand-dogs” Irish, Tigger, Ray Ray and Sparrow. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 11:00 am at Riley Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Mt. Pisgah Community Cemetery in Woodville, Texas. Those who plan to attend are encouraged to dress comfortably in bright colors, especially bright pink. She was adamant that no one show up in drab, sad colors. Pallbearers: Aaron Tooke, Tyler Foxworth, Jacob Foxworth, Oscar Fowler, Scott Rancour and Richard Tijerina Honorary Pallbearers: Sean Davis, William Briggs, Scott Foxworth
