Obituary of Charles Elson Kirkland
Charles Elson Kirkland, 67, of Diboll, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 in Houston. Charles was born May 15, 1949 in Belton, TX to the late Woodrow and Bonnie Kirkland. He lived in Diboll for many years. He served in the U.S. Army and a was Vietnam Veteran. His hobbies included watching TV, listening to country music and being a mechanic. Charles also loved spending time with his grandkids and shooting guns with his son-in-law Noel.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ray Kirkland; sister, Connie Harvill.
He survived by his wife, Joan Carrol Kirkland; daughters, Beth Ann Hancock, Sheri Shofner, Ashley Janes, Kila Janes; grandchildren, Jeremy Hancock, Danielle Hancock, Shianne Shofner, Sarah Hancock; great grandchildren, Guadalupe Alvarado Jr., Isaiah Alvarado, Samuel Alvarado, Aden Podolak; sisters, Bonita Howell, Margaret Pierson, Virginia Sawyer, Linda Riley; brother, Woody Kirkland; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A Memorial Service for Charles will be 2 pm, Monday, July 25, 2016 at Riley Funeral Home.
