Obituary of Woodrow Barlow, Sr.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crow of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 Mr. Woodrow Barlow, Sr. was born on November 3, 1926 to the late Rosie Lee and Prentice Barlow. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age through Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church. As a Christian disciple he taught a Sunday school class for many years. Mr. Barlow graduated from Henry T. Scott High School in Woodville, Texas. He received his degree in Agriculture Education from Prairie View A&M University. He also taught school in Jasper and Woodville. Mr. Barlow was a WWII veteran. Later in life he also chose to become a member of the Jehovah Witness Faith. Mr. Barlow enjoyed going out and preaching the good news of Jehovah. Woodrow had faith in Jehovah’s promise of a resurrection for those who have fallen asleep in death. He liked forward to the time when the Earth is restored to a peaceful paradise and is filled with the knowledge of Jehovah will have an opportunity to live forever. Woodrow was preceded in death by his parents Rosie Lee Barlow and Prentice Barlow, and a brother Theadore Barlow. He leaves to mourn one son Woodrow Barlow, Jr. (Barbara) of Beaumont; grandson Joseph Barlow of Grand Prairie, TX; sisters Bernice and Christine and a brother Leroy all of Houston; plus a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. The family will receive visitors at Riley Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday, June 10, 2016. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 11, 2016 with visitation beginning at 9:00 am. He will be laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery #2 in Doucette.
