Obituary of Lorine Jordan Powell

Lorine Jordan Powell, 98, of Vidor passed away peacefully on May 18, 2016. Born June 7, 1917 in Spurger, Tx to the late Jeremiah "Jerry" and Lalia "Lollie" Ratcliff Jordan, her father was a cropper and moved around. She was mainly raised in Spurger but did live in Batson Prairie and Mount Union. On December 12, 1936 she married Jesse Bryan Powell. She worked mainly in child care for many years. She was a great seamstress and could make patterns out of newspapers. She attended Beech Creek Baptist Church growing up which was started by her great, great grandfather, Captain James G. Colllier out of his home. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Inez Sturrock, Vera Wilson, Ila Price, Lucy B. Crosby, Cora Nolan and Jennie Lee Harp; brothers, Elbert Jordan, Prentice Jordan, Marlin Jordan, Hicks Jordan and Baby Brother Jordan. Lorine is survived by her loving children, Jerry Powell and wife, Paulette of Houston, Gloria Markle of Temple, Sarah Boudreaux and husband, Paul of Vidor; grandchildren, Susie (Powell) Herrmann and husband, Steve of Dallas, Casandra "Cassie" (Boudreaux) Watson and husband Dale, Jr. of Vidor, Paul Boudreaux, III and wife, Tracy of Vidor; great grandchildren, Preston Hermann of San Jose, CA, Blaine Herrmann of WA, Troy Watson and fiance, Jordan Camp of Woodville, Paul Boudreaux, IV Ashlyn Watson, Rhiannon Boudreaux, Isabella Boudreaux, Dina Boudreaux and Kim Morgan all of Vidor. Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016, at 10 am at the Beech Creek Baptist Church in Spurger with Brother Jack Lewellen officiating. Burial will follow at Beech Creek Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 am Saturday until the time of the service.
