Obituary of Robert Elbert Hodges
Robert “Bob” Elbert Hodges, 95, of Woodville, TX passed away February 3, 2014. He was born November 28, 1918 in Pedal, MS to Henry Robert and Minnie Mae Smith Hodges. He served in the US Army during World War II where he was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and numerous service medals. He retired from Texaco Refinery in 1975 after 33 years. Bob was a member of the VFW in Woodville and the Dam B Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief for many years. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Town Bluff.
Mr. Hodges was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Florence H. Jackson Hodges; daughter Catherine Denton; brothers and sisters Lena Lewis, Lydia Conner, Eloise Hartfield, Charles Hodges, Bennie Lee Johnson, and Emma Gean McKinney. He is survived by his daughters Carol Sieu Burke and husband Randy, Jo Ann Merendino Bean and husband Jim, and Linda Pieper and husband Erwin ; stepchildren Jimmy Bean, Phillip Bean and wife Mary and Tina Zimmerman and husband LeRoy; brother Jack Hodges and wife Barbara; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Riley Funeral Home Chapel from 4-8 pm on Thursday, February 6, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Fairview Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
