Obituary of Marlene Land Sims

Marlene Land Sims, 83, of Woodville passed away January 8, 2016 in Jasper, Texas. Born March 4, 1932 in Crockett, Texas to the late Marlin and Abbey Johnson Land, she lived in Woodville for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, J. C. Sims. Marlene is survived by her loving family, daughter, Jettie Lee Sims Jennings of Woodville; Jettie’s children, Bill Jennings of California, his children, Mary Katherine and William Hunter Jennings and James Jennings and wife, Misty of Washington and their children, James Alexander, Corey Alexander, Xander Nicolas and Alexandria Nicole Jennings; son, John C. Sims, Jr. of Longview; John’s children, John C. Sims, III and wife, Dana of Chester and Melvin J. Sims and wife, Veronica of Jasper and their children, Jathan and Isabella Brianna Sims and Mattie Elizabeth Hamilton. She is also survived by her sister, Bonnie Land Heath. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 16, 2016, at 2 pm at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Garfield Lamon officiating. Burial will follow at the Town Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 11 am until the time of the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Darrell Rhodes, Dillon Williams, Nick Garefalos, Mike Garefalos, Jeff Garefalos and Chad Heath.
