Obituary of James Bibb Bounds

Born in a tent on the banks of the Neches River on October 29, 1916, James Bibb Bounds “Pop” 99 passed away peacefully at his home in Nederland on November 24, 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents; Charles and Teenie Bounds as well as the love of his life Mary Davis Bounds, his wife of 61 years. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter Rebecca Flach and her husband Chris of Nederland. His son Charles Bounds and his wife Janis of Crystal Beach . He is also survived by five grandchildren and their spouses ; Cindy and Jim Ashcraft, James and Lori Durso, Charles “Chuck” and Kelsey Bounds, Jessica and Matthew Blanchard, and Amanda and David Buchenhain. Also dear to his heart, his 11 great-grandchildren Hannah Durso, Alyssa Ashcraft, Allden Ashcraft, Derek Durso, Maddie Blanchard, Lily Blanchard, Carson Bounds, Slade Durso, Izzy Blanchard, Caleb Bounds and Matthew Buchenhain. James served in the United States Air Force and was a World War II veteran. He retired from Texaco Refinery in Port Arthur where he worked as an operator. After retirement, he and Mary relocated to Woodville to enjoy many years of leisure and travel. Pop will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was truly a member of the “greatest generation” and was a role model for all who knew him. Pop’s legacy will live on through his kind spirit and his inspirational expression of faith and love. Funeral will be Saturday, November 28,2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Riley Funeral Home in Woodville, Texas with Mark Tolar and Bill Stanley officiating. Visitation will precede the funeral at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah cemetery in Woodville. “We love you Pop”
