Obituary of Barbara Hight Moore

Barbara "Bobbie" Hight Moore was 69 when she passed away at a hospital in Round Rock, Texas on Friday, January 23, 2015. She was born on June 12, 1945, the 3rd child to Hubert and Fern Hight of Spurger, Texas. As a child Bobbie spent most of her days cooking for her family, working in the cotton fields, or swimming in the creek with her cousins down the dirt road in “Odomville.” She loved to sing with her brothers in their band on weekends. Bobbie graduated High School in 1963, a semester ahead of her class. Then she attended National Beauty School in Dallas. In the late 70's Bobbie moved her two young boys, Danny and Josh to Austin, Texas. A few years after her daughter Carin was born she opened up her very own beauty shop, "Bobbie's Country Cut & Curl." In the early 90's she retired her scissors and comb and began working for Prudential Insurance Company. In 1997 she moved back to East Texas to help her sister, Eve, care for their mother. Soon after her mother passed, she began working for the Railroad. The Watco Companies transferred her to Austin in 2006 which allowed her to spend more time with her children and grandchildren who lived in the area. She was part of the Austin Western Railroad family where everyone knew her as Ms. Bobbie. Devoted to the railroad and “her guys," Bobbie worked up until her last days. She was honored by the company for being an outstanding employee for going above and beyond the call of duty and was truly loved by all. She is survived by her only sister, Eve Locke and husband David, of Beaumont, TX; her youngest brother, Harold Hight and wife Barbara, of Spurger, TX; sister-in-law and best friend, Mary Hight-Fomby of Vidor, TX; son Daniel Arriaga Jr. and wife Robin, of Mesquite, TX; son Joshua Phillips and his fiancée Susan Brown, of Bremond, TX; only daughter, Carin Stovall, of Austin, TX; 9 grandchildren: Miranda, Tony, Reanna, Cheyenne, Kelsey, Ty, David, Aaron, Jacob; 4 great-grandchildren Braylin, Adeline, Jace, Jerimiah. She is preceded in death by four brothers, Carl, Charles, Billy Wayne, and Buddy Hight and both of her parents. Monday, January 26th she was laid to rest amongst her family at Town Bluff Cemetery. A service celebrating her life will be held in Austin for friends, family, and co-workers in coming weeks. For details email celebrationforbobbie@gmail.com. Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to the Town Bluff Barlow Cemetery Fund, 241 CR 4368, Woodville, Texas 75979.
